They operate all year round, but unfortunately Christmas time often brings an increased incidence of scammer activity.
Scammers target people from all walks of life and use all kinds of sneaky approaches to gain personal and financial information from those they contact.
Scams can take different forms, sometimes they can be difficult to recognise as they may pretend to be a Government agency such as the ATO or Centrelink, or they often impersonate genuine or well-known charities asking for false donations or payments. Some people have also fallen victim to scammers declaring untrue lottery winnings or inheritances, asking the unsuspecting person to provide personal and banks details including bank accounts.
It is important to beware of scams all the time and vigilantly protect your personal information.
If you are concerned you might be the target of a scammer who contacts you, do not give out any personal information, hang up the call or delete the email.
If you are ever concerned about requests received from Suncare, please do not hesitate to contact your Care Coordinator directly or our Customer Service Team on 1800 786 227 to verify the enquiry before providing your personal details.
