Our Community Connections

Boronia Cottage

Community-owned respite facility enabling care options

We recognise the vital role that carers perform in our community. Boronia Cottage on Bribie Island is a purpose-built respite facility enabling professional care options when carers or family members require extra support. Qualified and dedicated Suncare staff provide a 24/7 first-class holiday experience including outings and activities for customers. Suncare personalised respite options include in-home respite care, one-on-one support and community based recreational activities and support groups.

The Cottage is owned by the Bribie-Moreton Hospice Health Services Inc and is supported by the wonderful community of Bribie Island.

Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS)

Connection for older Queenslanders

Suncare offers the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, where we can connect you with an ongoing volunteer visitor in your area.

The free program, funded by the Australian Government, aims to match recipients with a volunteer who will visit regularly. Whether it’s a cuppa and a chat, a walk or reminiscing through photos, the connection can provide companionship and friendship to help improve quality of life.

Meals on Wheels

A range of nutritious meals ready to heat and serve

Suncare offers a weekly Meals on Wheels service within the Sunshine Coast region. A range of nutritious frozen meals, ready to heat and serve, can be ordered in advance, providing flexible meal options and menu choices to enjoy at home.

We can also connect customers outside of our Meals on Wheels delivery area with alternative meal services.

Community Centres

Social connectivity for our community

Suncare strives to encourage mental and physical wellbeing and social connectivity within the community. With something for everyone our activities include luncheons, RSL shows and events, walking groups, exercise classes, visits to coffee shops, arts and crafts workshops, gardening, cinema visits, chair yoga, aqua aerobics and more.

We have community centres at Maroochydore, Kawana Forest, Buddina and Nambour.

Suncare Digital Program

Keeping our seniors connected

Our Digital program is keeping our customers connected by providing iPads and teaching them digital skills.

Increasingly, services available to help older Australians require an email address. These include online shopping, banking and health and Government services including My Aged Care. Suncare’s Digital Program is helping people to learn about and use technology with confidence. Using an iPad, our Digital Program offers step-by-step learning activities and resources such as Quick Start Guides.
