Home Care Funding
Suncare services are delivered through government funded programs or they can be privately self-funded.
Government funded programs are accessed by undertaking an assessment through My Aged Care to identify the support you need and to determine the funding you will receive. My Aged Care is the Australian Government’s starting point for accessing government funded in-home services.
Home Care Packages
Home Care Packages (HCP) provide funding for a wide-ranging choice of in-home services, with four levels of funding support depending on your care needs. The funding can be used to develop a package of services including meal services, transport, housekeeping, personal care, allied health and clinical services, home and garden maintenance, in-home or community respite services, social events and activities and daily contact and support services.
Funding is accessed through a comprehensive assessment with an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) (organised through My Aged Care). Eligibility for Home Care Package funding is determined through your assessment and is usually available for older Australians who require help to remain living independently and safely in their home. You will be expected to contribute to the cost of your care if you have the means to do so.
Commonwealth Home Support Program
The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) provides funding for entry level in-home services such as grocery shopping, transport, respite, social support, food preparation, housekeeping and home and garden maintenance to support independent living at home.
Funding is accessed through an assessment by trained assessors from a Regional Assessment Service (RAS) (organised through My Aged Care). The program is available for anyone over 65, people over 50 who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, who are on a low income, homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Short Term Restorative Care
Short Term Restorative Care programs funded by the government provide access to a range of allied health services delivered by a team of allied health professionals, over an eight-week period. The services are tailored for individuals and are well suited for people recovering from an illness or injury or who are looking to improve their overall health and wellbeing so they can remain living independently at home.
Funding is accessed through an assessment with an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) (arranged through My Aged Care) and is not available to people who have a Home Care Package or if you have been hospitalised in the three months prior to your assessment. You will be expected to contribute to the cost of your care if you have means to do so.
NDIS Coordination Services
The Australian government provides NDIS funding which can be used for a range of services that support people living with a disability. The funding can be used for services that help individuals achieve their NDIS goals and help them connect with their community and other mainstream and government services.
Self-Funded Services
Suncare can provide services which are self-funded by people who may not be eligible for government funded programs, who wish to top-up government funded services or who are waiting for government funded services to become available.
