Did you know?
Home Care Funding
Suncare services are delivered through government funded programs. These include Home Care Packages (HCP), the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and Short Term Restorative Care (STRC). Home care services can also be privately self-funded.
To apply for government funded programs, and to receive Suncare services, you will need to participate in an assessment through My Aged Care. My Aged Care is the Australian Government’s starting point for accessing government funded in-home services.
The My Aged Care assessment process identifies the support you need and the amount of funding you will receive to enable your support services.
There are two different types of assessment:
Home Support Assessment
Conducted by the Regional Assessment Service (RAS), this identifies lower level support aimed at helping you to remain in your home. It is funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Program.
Comprehensive Assessment
Conducted by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT), this assessment identifies higher level support and in-home care options. It is funded through a Home Care Package which has four levels of support, depending on your needs.
