Peace of Mind for Carers, Support for Your Loved One
Located in the heart of Maroochydore, our service offers a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where your loved one can enjoy engaging activities, gentle routines and personalised care, while you take time to rest, recharge or focus on other responsibilities.
A safe, supported environment you can trust
We understand how important it is to feel confident in the care your loved one receives. Our day respite program is thoughtfully designed to support older people to stay active, connected and well, while respecting their preferences and pace.
Our dementia-trained support workers provide compassionate, person-centred care in a secure environment, helping every customer feel calm, respected and safe.
What makes Sunshine Coast Day Respite different?
At our Suncare Community Centre, respite care is more than just a service - it’s a community. We intentionally keep our program small and personal, so your loved one is supported in a way that reflects who they are and how they live.
01
Personalised Support
Because our service is delivered from a small, home-style setting, your loved one receives:
- Unhurried, one-on-one time with familiar staff
- Support that adapts with their needs, preferences and energy
- Daily routines built around what feels comfortable for them
02
Familiar faces
Our dedicated team gets to know each guest personally - their story, their cues, and what brings them joy. This continuity builds:
- Trust and confidence in the care experience
- Easier transitions in and out of respite
- A sense of belonging with staff who understand their rhythms
Returning guests often tell us it’s the familiar faces that make all the difference.
03
Choice and Flexibility
There’s no rigid schedule here. Each guest helps shape their day based on how they feel, which may include:
- A slow morning with breakfast and tea in the lounge
- Activities like music, gardening or gentle movement
- Time to relax quietly, read, or enjoy some friendly conversation
It’s care that feels like home - with the flexibility to suit individual needs.
04
Reassurance
Carers often say the best part of our service is the peace of mind it brings. You’ll know your loved one is:
- Supported by dementia-aware, person-centred staff
- Enjoying meaningful engagement in a warm, social environment
- Safe, comfortable and treated with dignity
While they enjoy their day, you can take time for yourself - knowing they’re in capable, caring hands.
Programs that support wellbeing
We offer tailored activities that promote cognitive stimulation, independence and joy. From gentle exercises and group discussions to creative hobbies and music, there’s something for everyone.
If your loved one prefers a quieter space, our relaxation room - with comfortable recliners and even a piano - offers a peaceful retreat to rest and recharge.
Homely meals and health support
Nutritious, home-style meals are prepared onsite and shared in a welcoming social setting. We also offer optional extras like allied health services, physiotherapy, and specialist cognitive programs, delivered by experienced professionals who understand the needs of older people.
Staying connected to community
We’re proud to operate from our Suncare Community Centre in Maroochydore. That means your loved one can also enjoy activities in the adjoining Community Hall at no extra cost - offering greater variety, more connection, and a vibrant community atmosphere.
We also provide convenient pick-up and drop-off services by arrangement.
Activities your loved one will enjoy
Our day respite includes a wide range of engaging options:
Arts & crafts – painting, knitting and creative projects
Book club & discussion groups – shared stories and conversation
Live music & cultural days – music, dancing and themed events
Games & social time – puzzles, cards, friendly competitions
Community gardening – connection through nature
Outings & bus trips – guided local excursions
Transport available
We understand that getting to activities can be a barrier.
That’s why transport may be available to and from our respite centre, making things a little easier to attend.
Fee for service (private pay)
Not everyone has government funding, and that's okay.
If you're waiting for your funding to come through, or you'd prefer to pay privately, our fee-for-service options give you access to the same quality care. It's flexible, transparent, and designed to fit your needs.
Not sure which option is right for you? Give us a call on 1800 786 227 and we'll help you work it out.
