Living well in Central Queensland
Rockhampton sits at the heart of Central Queensland — a region known for its wide-open spaces, strong community spirit, and a slower pace of life that many of us wouldn't trade for anything.
As a local home care provider in Rockhampton, Suncare understands what matters most to people here. We know that staying connected to your community, your routines, and the life you've built is just as important as the practical support you might need day-to-day.
We're here to make life a little easier, without changing everything you love about it.
Your local Suncare team
Suncare is a Queensland-based not-for-profit that's been supporting older Australians since 1970. What started as a volunteer Meals on Wheels service on the Sunshine Coast has grown into a trusted provider of in-home care, nursing, and community support across South East and Central Queensland.
Our Rockhampton team operates from our Community Hub at 80 Denham Street, Rockhampton City. From here, we support people across Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gracemere, and surrounding areas — helping them stay independent, connected, and comfortable at home.
We're not here to take over. We're here to lend a hand: on your terms, in your home, in a way that fits your life.

Funding and costs
There are several ways to access and pay for support at home in Rockhampton. We can help you understand your options and make the most of your funding.
Support at Home
- Whether you need a lower level of support or more complex care, Suncare is here to help. The Support at Home program provides government-funded support based on your assessed needs.
- There are eight levels of funding (Levels 1–8), ranging from basic assistance through to higher levels of care, and you choose how your funding is used.
- Lower levels (1–2) are for people needing ongoing low levels of care and assistance
- Middle levels (3–5) are for people needing moderate levels of care and assistance
- Higher levels (6–8) are for people needing high or more complex levels of care and support
- Already have a package with another provider? You can switch to Suncare at any time. We'll make the transition easy and stress-free.
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
If you're looking for lighter support, like help with domestic assistance, transport, or social activities, the CHSP may be right for you.
It's designed for people who need a little extra help to stay independent at home. Suncare is an approved CHSP provider in Rockhampton.
Fee for service (private pay)
Not everyone has government funding, and that's okay.
If you're waiting for your funding to come through, or you'd prefer to pay privately, our fee-for-service options give you access to the same quality care. It's flexible, transparent, and designed to fit your needs.

Frequently asked questions
What should I look for in a home care provider in Rockhampton?
When choosing a home care provider, look for:
- A local team who understands the Rockhampton community
- Flexibility to adjust services as your needs change
- Clear communication about costs and what's included
- A not-for-profit focus that puts people first
- Experienced, well-trained staff who treat you with dignity and respect
Can I switch from another home care provider to Suncare?
Yes, you can switch providers at any time. If you already have a Support at Home Package with another provider, we'll help you transfer your funding to Suncare.
The process is straightforward, and we'll guide you through each step.
How much does home care cost in Rockhampton?
Costs depend on the type of funding you have and the services you need. If you receive a Support at Home Package or CHSP funding, the government covers most of the cost- you may just pay a small contribution.
For private (fee-for-service) care, we'll give you a clear breakdown of costs before you start.
Do I need an assessment to access support at home?
For government-funded services like Support at Home Packages or CHSP, you'll need an assessment through My Aged Care.
This helps determine what level of support you're eligible for. If you're paying privately, you can access our services without an assessment - just get in touch and we'll take it from there.
