Keep home feeling like home.
The garden keeps growing. The gutters keep filling. And somehow there’s always another little job waiting to be done.
We’re here to help with practical home and garden maintenance, so you can keep your place safe, tidy and comfortable without having to tackle everything yourself.
A hand with the jobs around home and garden
There’s a lot that goes into looking after a home. And when bending, reaching, lifting or spending hours in the garden isn’t as easy as it used to be, a little help can go a long way.
Tell us what needs attention, and we’ll help organise practical support that suits your home, your needs and your funding.
Lawn mowing and edging
Keeping the lawn down and the edges neat, front and back, so the yard stays easy to look at and easy to walk through.
Light gardening
Moving manageable pots, re-potting, planting and watering, plus clearing weeds that could become a safety or access issue around paths and beds. These are lighter, shorter tasks rather than heavy clearing.
Pruning and hedge trimming
Cutting back overgrown shrubs, hedges and low branches so paths stay clear and light gets in.
Green waste removal
Gutter cleaning
Window cleaning
Washing windows inside and out, including the ones that are too high or awkward to reach safely.
Restorative care
Paths and outdoor tidy-ups
Less upkeep. More time to enjoy your home.
Falls are one of the most common reasons older Australians end up in hospital, and a good number of them happen on a ladder or a slippery path. Having someone else clear the gutters and reach the high windows takes that risk off the table entirely.
It also means the parts of gardening you actually enjoy stay yours. Plenty of our customers still potter about with the pots, the herbs and the roses. We just take on the mowing, the heavy pruning and the loads that need carrying.
And a well kept yard changes how a home feels, both from the street and from the back step. That matters more than people tend to let on.

How to access home and garden services

What’s available will depend on your needs, eligibility, funding and the type of job you need done.
Support at Home program
Gardening and home upkeep sit within the Everyday Living category of Support at Home, which means they can be funded from your classification budget. Everyday Living services attract a participant contribution based on your financial situation.
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
Entry-level government-funded support for people who need a little extra help around the home and yard. A small participant contribution may apply.
Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS)

Fee for service (private pay)
Private-pay options if you are waiting for funding to come through, or you would simply like a one-off tidy-up without going through a government program.
Home and garden services FAQs
What is included in Suncare's home and garden services?
Our home and garden services cover light gardening and the cleaning jobs that are hard to reach safely. That includes lawn mowing and edging, weeding, pruning and hedge trimming, green waste removal, gutter cleaning, window cleaning, ceiling fan cleaning, and sweeping paths and outdoor areas.
We will talk through what your place needs before the first visit and agree together on what gets the focus.
Does Suncare do home maintenance, repairs or handyman jobs?
Suncare's Home and Garden Services team looks after gardening and cleaning tasks, so we don't take on jobs like fixing a fence, replacing a tap, patching a wall or hanging a door ourselves. That doesn't always mean it can't be arranged. Depending on the request and your funding, some maintenance work may be able to be organised through another suitable provider. Your Care Partner can look into whether it fits within your plan and help point you towards the right person for the job. So if you need repair work done, have a chat with us anyway and we can talk through the options.
Does Support at Home cover gardening?
In most cases, yes. Gardening and home upkeep sit within the Everyday Living category of the Support at Home program, which means they can be funded through your classification budget.
Everyday Living services attract a participant contribution, so you pay a share of the cost based on your financial situation. Your Care Partner will include home and garden services in your Care Plan if it is something you need.
How much does light gardening cost if I am paying privately?
Light gardening is charged at $95 per hour during standard hours, weekdays between 6 am and 8 pm, with a minimum one-hour visit. If travel is required to reach you, a fee of $0.99 per kilometre applies.
Gutter, window and ceiling fan cleaning are quoted separately depending on the job. Our team will confirm the cost with you before anything starts, so there are no surprises.
How often will someone come?
Most services run on a regular schedule, either fortnightly or every four weeks, with one-off visits available when you just need a single job done. A fortnightly or four-weekly visit suits ongoing work like mowing, and many customers move from fortnightly in the growing season to four-weekly over winter. A one-off booking works well for a tidy-up before visitors or a gutter clean once or twice a year.
We will help you choose the frequency that suits your place and your funding, and adjust it as your needs change.
Do you offer home and garden services in my area?
Not every service is available in every location. We work across South East and Central Queensland, including the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Gympie, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and Rockhampton.
Give our Customer Contact team a call and we will let you know what is available where you live.
Do I need a referral?
Not for Suncare services. If you have Support at Home funding, CHSP, QCSS, or you are paying privately, you can contact us directly and we will arrange a visit.
If you do not have government funding yet and you would like to look into it, we can also walk you through how to register with My Aged Care or check your eligibility for QCSS.
Ready for a hand around the home and garden?
You’ve spent plenty of time making your place feel like yours. You shouldn’t have to spend all your energy maintaining it.
Whether it’s help in the garden, a maintenance job that keeps getting put off, or something that’s become a little harder to reach, our team is here to help work out what support could make life at home easier.
