Mario Pennisi AM
Mario brings a genuine passion for community wellbeing and over four decades of leadership across the life sciences and healthcare sectors. As Chair of the Board, he plays a key role in guiding Suncare’s strategic direction and strengthening relationships with our partners, community, and sector stakeholders.
With deep experience as a non-executive director and strategic advisor, Mario is committed to helping Suncare grow sustainably while staying true to our purpose: supporting people to live independently and well. He proudly champions the needs of older Queenslanders and ensures our services continue to reflect the trust placed in us by customers, carers, and families across the state.
David Winters
David is a trusted business transformation advisor with more than 35 years’ experience helping organisations navigate complex change and deliver real results. He brings a unique mix of global insight and local care, with a career spanning international executive roles, mentoring, and leadership across people, process and digital transformation.
At Suncare, David contributes strategic oversight and governance expertise, helping shape a forward-looking organisation that embraces innovation while staying grounded in quality, safety and inclusion. He is known for his ability to balance bold ideas with thoughtful execution, ensuring change is meaningful, measured and delivers long-term value.
Previously a Partner at Deloitte Consulting Asia, David has worked with organisations across Europe, the United States and Australasia. He has been recognised in the Out50 Top Leaders in Australia and is a passionate advocate for community, diversity and equity in business.
David also serves on the Pinnacle Foundation Committee (a not-for-profit supporting LGBTQIA+ youth), is a member of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee for the Queensland Residential Tenancies Authority, and is a Justice of the Peace (Qualified).


Dr Rosalind Crawford
Rosalind is passionate about helping older Australians live well at home for longer and brings deep clinical insight to support that goal. She joined the Suncare Board to help drive quality and safety in aged care, building on decades of healthcare experience to strengthen governance, promote personalised care, and enhance customer outcomes.
Drawing on her background as an Emergency Medicine Physician and specialist Medical Administrator, Rosalind played a key role in establishing Suncare’s Quality Advisory Body, supporting our Consumer Advisory Body, and contributing to the governance of the Clinical Care and Customer Governance Committee. Her leadership has helped embed a robust quality framework, enabling customers to avoid hospitalisation or residential care and enjoy more years of independent living than the industry average.
Rosalind holds a Master of Business and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Her expertise spans clinical governance, strategic partnerships and innovation in public health, with a focus on integrated care and better outcomes for individuals, teams and communities.
Dr Brad Bowes
Brad brings a wealth of experience in corporate governance, risk management, and compliance, fields he’s worked in across both the public and private sectors. With a sharp commercial mindset and a strategic approach, Brad has helped lead business transformations in complex, regulated environments.
He’s passionate about using governance to support better outcomes for people and organisations, not just processes, ensuring decisions are guided by both risk awareness and human impact. Brad has chaired the Risk and Compliance Committee of a major regional transport infrastructure entity, was chair of the State Council for the Governance Institute of Australia and contributed to tertiary and professional education in the governance space.
At Suncare, Brad helps shape the frameworks that keep our services safe, effective and future-ready.


Jeff Watson
Jeff is a seasoned CFO and Director who brings a steady hand and a sharp eye for improving systems, processes and governance. His broad experience spans multiple industries and regions, with a strong focus on strategy, operational efficiency and change management.
His calm, strategic approach and deep understanding of financial systems, governance and change management help ensure Suncare continues to grow in a sustainable and innovative way.
He has served on a range of board committees, including as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for a national not-for-profit. At Suncare, he plays a key role in supporting long-term planning and strengthening the foundations that help our people and services thrive.
Melanie Woodward
Melanie is a passionate finance and governance leader who brings a wealth of knowledge, perspective and heart to the Suncare Board. With a 30-year career spanning health, disability, employment, financial services, charities and sporting organisations, she’s known for turning big picture ideas into meaningful impact.
Melanie combines sharp financial acumen with a deep commitment to diversity, inclusion and opportunity. Her focus is on strengthening foundations, ensuring organisations like Suncare are not only sustainable, but progressive, responsive and built to serve community well into the future.
Melanie serves as a Non-Executive Director for Workways Australia and Skill360 Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), a Graduate Diploma in Corporate Governance, and is a proud Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and CPA Australia, as well as a Graduate Member of the AICD.


Dr Zaana Jaclyn
Zaana brings a unique depth of knowledge and experience in customer experience, organisational transformation and leadership development, developed over a 20-year career that spans industry, academia, and international advisory work.
A former Junior Partner at McKinsey & Company, Zaana led large-scale cultural and service transformations across health, social, and public services. She continues to advise organisations across both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, helping teams build stronger cultures, deliver more impactful services, and embrace systems change that puts people first.
With a PhD in Human Centred Design, a Masters in Information and Knowledge Management, and qualifications as both a counsellor and ICF-accredited executive coach, Zaana takes a multidisciplinary approach to leadership and change. She is passionate about supporting Suncare’s journey of continuous improvement, ensuring we not only meet the needs of our customers today, but shape a better future for the communities we serve.
Marlene Elliot
Marlene is a seasoned executive and board director with a commitment to ethical leadership, forward-thinking strategy, and making a meaningful impact in local communities.
Her leadership career spans marketing, communications, and governance across banking, professional services and community services. Marlene spent 15 years with KPMG as Director of National Client and Market Insights and now leads VUCA Trusted Advisors, where she supports not-for-profits with strategy and board reviews.
Marlene brings over 20 years of board experience across diverse sectors including national sport, employment services, and recreation. She currently serves on the boards of Commonwealth Games Australia, Peninsula Leisure and Diving Australia, and contributes internationally as a member of the Commonwealth Games Federation Governance & Integrity Committee.
Whether it’s through board leadership or strategic guidance, Marlene brings a thoughtful, customer focused lens to everything she does. She’s deeply committed to making a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
