‘tis the season for scams

'tis the season for scams

Scammers take advantage at Christmas time to try and steal money or personal and financial information.

Common holiday scams to look out for include:

  • Online shopping scams – scammers set up fake online stores or online classified sites to trick people into buying items that don’t exist.
  • Travel scams – Scammers offer exceptional deals on travel or trick people into thinking they have won a holiday.
  • Parcel delivery scams – Scammers try and steal your personal information through fake parcel delivery notifications or links. Australia Post will never ask you to click a link and enter personal details or provide credit card details.

It pays to be sceptical when it comes to scams and if you are in doubt, always ask someone to help you.
