Suncare unveils its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan

Suncare's RAP Engagement Coordinator Anthony Longbottom and CEO Kim Attenborough unveil our Innovate RAP artwork.

Suncare Community Services has taken an important step forward in our reconciliation journey, unveiling our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

A strategic roadmap promoting meaningful action and progress, the Innovate RAP embodies Suncare’s vision of contributing positively to the lives of Australia’s First Peoples.

An official launch event was held on Tuesday, November 26 at the Suncare Community Centre with staff, customers, external stakeholders and community members attending.

We presented our RAP, its guiding principles and initiatives, alongside a vibrant artwork motif created to honour Suncare’s RAP journey. Titled ‘Our Caring Heart’, the artwork was produced by David Williams, a proud Wakka Wakka artist at Gilimbaa.

At the event, guests were welcomed with a traditional smoking ceremony by the Undumbi Group, who later performed a traditional cultural dance and a Welcome to Country from Brent Milla.

We heard from our RAP Engagement Coordinator Anthony Longbottom, Suncare’s Board Chair Mario Pennisi AM and our CEO Kim Attenborough, about the importance of Suncare’s Innovate RAP, and how this enhances our commitment to reconciliation.

For the event, Suncare partnered with Wiradjuri artist Paul Constable Calcott, who provided an incredible art exhibition and interactive display by NuunaRon Art Group.

Guests were then treated to a feast of Indigenous flavours, crafted by our Meals on Wheels team. This included a delicious Bunya nut hummus made from locally sourced nuts!
