Durelle’s Story

Durelle's Story Suncare Community Services

Suncare customer Durelle Dean has enjoyed Suncare social outings for more than two years.

When COVID restrictions placed social activities on hold, Durelle was concerned about her mental wellbeing.

“Suncare phoned to ask if I would like to have a call on a daily or weekly basis. Once a week was good for me. The whole culture of Suncare is caring without being overpowering… that’s respect, and you don’t get that everywhere,” said Durelle.

During the restrictions, Suncare made over 3,000 calls to check-in on customer safety and whether additional assistance was required.

Durelle was recently invited to join COVID-safe social activities and is delighted to be socially active once again. A favourite activity from earlier this year was a visit to the Cat Café which she hopes will be on the agenda again soon…

Durelle’s Home Care Package enables her to attend the Maroochydore Day Respite Centre once a week for social group outings. It also provides home assistance which includes transport to the local shops and weekly home cleaning.
